IELTS General
The IELTS General Training test is designed to assess your English language proficiency for general life in an English-speaking country. The test covers four skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
Listening
The Listening test takes 30 minutes. In addition to that, 10 extra minutes are given for transferring answers to the answer sheet. A candidate’s ability to listen and understand a native speaker is tested through recorded conversations and monologues.
Reading
The reading test takes 60 minutes. In this test, three reading passages with tasks are given.
- Section 1: consists of two or three short factual texts.
- Section 2: consists of questions based on two short factual texts.
- Section 3: contains a long text on a common subject.
Writing
This 60-minute test consists of two writing assignments. In the first task, the examinee must write a letter of 150 words; in the second task, he or she must write a short essay of 250 words.
Speaking
In the speaking test, the examinee must demonstrate his or her speaking skills by answering a series of questions. Examiners may ask to introduce themselves, talk to the examiner and ask them to speak on the given topic.
